THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The City police have come in for applause for having ensured that the state capital, the hub of Onam festivities, remained free of untoward incidents.

A massive security arrangement of unprecedented scale that saw 2,290 police officers being deployed in various parts of the city appears to have paid dividends for the authorities.

Official sources said no a single untoward incident had been reported during the week-long celebrations.

A bulk of the deployment had been made to ensure security and proper crowd management at the venues of the celebrations, including the Kanakakkunnu Palace premises, which witnessed huge public presence on all days of the festivities.
