THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Additional chief secretary Paul Antony, third accused in the relative appointment case, has given a letter to the government expressing his willingness to quit his post. He handed over the letter to chief secretary S M Vijayanand soon after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan directed to take action against Antony. Pinarayi had the other day directed the chief secretary to exempt Antony from the industries department. However, the order on it has not been issued.

Antony said, “I came to know about the FIR registered against me in the case via media. I haven’t obtained a copy of the FIR. In this context, the government should clarify whether I should continue in the post or not. I just obeyed the direction of the then minister E P Jayarajan. The government should decide what should be done after implicating me in the case.

If I have done anything wrong, the government can take any appropriate action and if the government is not interested, I am ready to quit my post.”

Meantime, his transfer order may be released today. He is likely to be shifted to any of the departments like planning, public works and health. Additional chief secretaries like P Marapandyan, Rajeev Sadanandan and Subrata Biswas are considered for the post.
