THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Extending his support to Vigilance Director Jacob Thomas, CPM State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the former had not done anything wrong. “If he has done any wrong, let the court examine it. Also the government maintains a good relationship with IAS officers,” he said.

Kodiyeri said he was surprised by most of the current news reports related to IAS officers. The government and officers are in  good terms. “Vigilance should be an independently functioning mechanism. One need not take his actions personally. Only it need to be seen whether he has done it as per rules. There is no question of party interfering in the issue.  The government also will not interfere in the affairs of the Vigilance department. The government has not hitherto given any instruction to the Vigilance or its director but the government will interfere if the Vigilance falters. But such a thing has not happened till date,” he explained.

Kodiyeri also criticized self-financing college managements, calling their stand draconian. He added that laws will be brought in to rein in such managements.
