KANNUR: A video showing some CPM members threatening to kill Youth Congress Mattanur block secretary Shuhaib (29) is out.

The CPM members said this in a speech during a demonstration in Edayannur two weeks ago. The video clearly shows some CPM members shouting “your days are numbered.”

A four-member gang arrived in a WagorR car and hurled a bomb at Shuhaib and friends who were eating out of a roadside shack. While his friends fled the spot, an injured Shuhaib was picked up and was hacked to death at the spot.

Shuhaib, who was in remand in connection with the CPM-Congress clash in Edayannur last month, got out of jail only recently. Shuhaib’s four friends have also got seriously injured in the attack. They have been admitted at a private hospital in Kannur.

The UDF will stage a dawn-to-dusk (6.00 am to 6.00 pm) hartal in Kannur district on Tuesday in protest against the incident.
